Christoph Schlingensief — The Pilots by Cordula Kablitz-Post about the renowned theater and film director in co-production with ZDF/Arte, premiered at the Hof International Film Festival 2008 and was subsequently released theatrically. In 2008 Edda Baumann-von Broen produced and directed in cooperation with Oscar-nomineé Oliver Hirschbiegel The Kindly Ones, a documentary about Jonathan Littell’s controversial fictitious autobiography of a gay SS officer.
Over the years Avanti Media has developed strong production ties across Europe and Canada and has sold films to many territories worldwide. The company received MEDIA Plus slate funding in 2005 and 2007 and produces a number of feature-length documentaries including Lou Andreas-Salomé and Tall Girls.
In 2002 Edda Baumann-von Broen’s co-managing director Cordula Kablitz-Post developed a fiction department for the firm. Its first independent feature, Sophiiiie won two awards at Munich Film Festival, screened in competition in Locarno and was invited to festivals around the world. High Maintenance, a coproduction with the Berlin International Film Festival, received the Student’s Academy Award in 2007.
